General Information

Federal Female Correctional Prison is a high-security federal institution dedicated exclusively to the secure custody of female inmates, including prisoners serving federal and state sentences. The facility may accept state-sentenced inmates when local correctional systems face overcrowding or capacity limitations, ensuring that all prisoners are housed under controlled, humane, and federally regulated conditions. The institution contains separate general-population, maximum-security, solitary-confinement, and death-row units. Female death-row inmates may be transferred from federal, state, or, upon special authorization, international jurisdictions. Eligible inmates may participate in supervised work assignments involving facility maintenance, prison industries, agriculture, and groundskeeping. Prisoners considered a heightened security risk may be placed under restricted movement or held in 23-hour solitary confinement by administrative or judicial order. A separate death house is maintained for the confinement and preparation of inmates approaching their scheduled execution date. For institutional security, the prison may enter a complete lockdown approximately 24 to 48 hours before an execution. All executions are conducted under applicable federal and local laws, court orders, and correctional protocols. The facility is authorized and equipped to carry out sentences through lethal injection, electrocution, gas chamber.
