Lurlene Rolfson was 35 years old when she was convicted in connection with a violent armed robbery that left two innocent people permanently disabled. According to prosecutors, Rolfson entered Franklin's Corner Market shortly before closing, armed with a stolen revolver, intending to steal cash from the business. After the store clerk complied with her demands and handed over the money, Rolfson fired a single shot, striking him in the spine. Although he survived, the injury left him permanently paralyzed from the waist down. Rolfson fled the scene in a stolen pickup truck. During a high-speed attempt to evade responding officers, she ran a red light and struck a pedestrian crossing the street. The victim suffered devastating spinal and traumatic brain injuries, surviving but requiring lifelong medical care. A brief pursuit ended when Rolfson crashed into a roadside embankment and surrendered without further incident. Investigators later recovered the stolen firearm, clothing matching surveillance footage, and the stolen cash inside the vehicle. At trial, prosecutors argued that Rolfson knowingly endangered multiple lives through her actions and displayed little regard for the safety of others.
