The Royal Court
Having heard and judged
Berenice Hill,
Who has appeared before us
On charges of theft, robbery, and defrauding of services,
Finds the accused guilty
As charged.
We hereby declare the young woman, Berenice Hill,
A thief and a swindler,
And sentence her
To death by beheading.
Consequently,
We order that, on the appointed day,
She be dressed
In the attire of those condemned to execution,
Handed over to the executioner,
And thus led into the courtyard of the fortress
To be guillotined—
Granting her the mercy of a private execution.
Until that day, the condemned
Shall be held in confinement
Within the fortress.
